CrossFit Kids Classes
Our classes are appropriate for most kids ages 5-12, and all different skills levels. The kids who haven’t “found” their sport yet are able to find their strengths right alongside the kids who excel in ump-teen sports a year. Very similar to the way our adult classes work, our kid’s classes provide an opportunity for every kind of athlete to improve on athletic skills while simultaneously having fun in an appropriately competitive environment. An example of a Kid’s Class might include an obstacle course, bear crawl Lego building, Tabata double-unders, handstand holds, and dodge ball!
CrossFit Kids Levels
It is important to keep in mind that just like CrossFit for adults, sometimes a workout will speak to a kid’s strength and they can complete is as Rx’d and other times it hits a kid’s weaknesses and has to be scaled or modified. For kids, this means that even though on some days with some workouts they are Big Dawgs, on another day they may have to scale and are in The Pack or on The Porch. It is their capacity to accomplish the movements safely, rather than strictly age that determines where they reside.
Intended for kids ages 4-6, beginners during the first 6 months or any extremely deconditioned kids. This group can also be used as an introduction to the movements and for younger kids who want to follow along with an older sibling. The maturity level of the kid and his/her ability to listen, pay attention and participate in class is critical and outweighs the actual age in determining if the kid is ready for CF Kids.
Intended for ages 5-8, any advanced beginners during the first 6-12 months of CrossFitting or older kids who are deconditioned.
Intended for 9-11 year olds who have been doing CrossFit regularly and are in the first year of CrossFitting or young teens who are deconditioned.
Intended for young teens who find that the Pack workout is too easy but cannot quite handle the weight and/or reps of the Big Dawg workout. Generally 10-12 year olds with a year or more experience with CrossFit Kids workouts.
Intended for Young Teens who have been doing CrossFit Kids regularly and have mastered the movements. Usually one to two years experience with CrossFit Kids.
